Dr. Alexandra Yerkes grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and was bitten by the horse bug in middle school when she decided she wanted to become an equine veterinarian. She rode hunter/jumpers through high school and expanded to field and cross country at Sweet Briar College where she majored in Biology and English and minored in Chemistry. After graduation, she attended the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine with a focus on Equine Medicine. While in veterinary school, Alex was the community outreach chair for the student chapter of AAEP. Her special interests in veterinary medicine include reproductive medicine and neonatal health and sports medicine and rehabilitation. In her free time, Alex enjoys riding and training her two dogs, Gemma Belle and Kitt, and containing her ferret, Mushu. Alex has completed her one year internship with Erskine & Associates and is looking forward to staying on as an associate!
