Dr. Amy Polkes provides internal medicine services at Damascus Equine Associates. A native of Long Island, Dr. Polkes graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. She did a one year internship in equine medicine and surgery at Fox Run Equine Center in Pennsylvania and then spent three years in general equine practice in Virginia and Pennsylvania. She returned to academics in 1997 and completed a three year residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the University of Florida and is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been practicing in Maryland since 2000.
Dr. Polkes moved to New York with her husband and 2 children last year to be closer to her family, but returns to work in Maryland in Virginia every 2 weeks. Her specialty practice focuses on advanced diagnostics for cardiac, respiratory, neurological and gastrointestinal problems.
