Dr. Suzanne Welker grew up in Clifton Forge, Virginia, where she spent her days learning to ride, care for, and whole-heartedly love unruly ponies. By age 6, Suzie was devoted to Hunter Jumpers, but has always loved trail riding and fox hunting whenever possible.
Dr. Welker graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Animal Science from Cornell University. She then returned to her hometown to pursue a DVM at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class in May of 2011.
Dr. Welker’s professional interests include general ambulatory medicine and internal medicine. Her long-term goals include completing a residency in either general practice or internal medicine, becoming involved in veterinary medicine governing associations, and giving back to her profession through teaching students.
Dr. Welker currently resides in Germantown, Maryland with her newlywed husband, Stephen, and her adorable terrier mutt, Cosette. In her spare time, she likes hiking, singing, watching dramas/thrillers, ballroom dancing, and eating spicy Mexican food.
